A spokesman for the division’s UK office has told AutomotiveWorld.com that Chevrolet Europe’s next generation Lacetti/Nubira is to have its world premiere at the Paris motor show on 2 October.
The current model, which is built by GM Daewoo at its Kunsan plant in South Korea on the former Daewoo Motor’s J200 platform, is a rebadged version of the six-year old Daewoo Lacetti/Nubira.
As well as being marketed in Europe as Chevrolet’s Nubira/Lacetti sedan, hatchback & wagon, versions of this Daewoo original are also exported to or assembled in various global markets. Examples include the Chevrolet Optra/SRV (India), Holden Viva (Australia), Suzuki Reno/Forenza (US) and Buick Excelle (China).
General Motors has pooled its worldwide engineering resources for the replacement model series. The same new architecture is to be the basis for the next Opel/Vauxhall/Chevrolet/Saturn/Holden Astra and their derivatives, such as a new Zafira minivan, all of which are due to be launched from 2010.
At the last Paris motor show in September 2006, Chevrolet Europe premiered a concept, the Ultra, which was displayed in bright blue World Touring Car Championship livery, bedecked with various wings and other aerodynamic addenda. The vehicle, which was designed in Australia by GM Holden, had originally been painted silver.
The Ultra concept was a similar size to the current Lacetti/Nubira.
Additional : The all new Chevrolet optra (J300) will come to thailand in late 2009.
