The sales of cars and light commercial vehicles of the Romanian car-maker Dacia, part of the Renault Group, globally increased by 17.1%, to 194,165 cars, in the first nine months, as against 165,834 units in the same period last year, according to a release of the French company.
Thus, during the period January-September, Dacia sold 181,081 cars (Logan, Logan MCV, Sandero), up 15.4%, respectively 8,925 light commercial vehicles (Logan Van, Logan Pick-Up), 46.6% more than during the same period of 2007.
The market share of the Renault Group in Romania at end-September fell by 4.2 percentage points, from 38.6% to 34.4%.
Dacia sold 69,735 cars in Romania, in the first nine months, 10.6% below the level of 74,818 units in the same period last year.
On September 30, Dacia had a share of 27.1% on the Romanian market.
Romania is the seventh big market for the Renault group in terms of sales, with 88,321 cars sold in the first three quarters of this year. In the same period of 2007, the French group sold 98,810 cars on the Romanian market.
At the level of September, Dacia sales increased by 53.4% over the same period of 2007, from 14,153 cars and light commercial vehicles to 21,709 units. In this case, the evolution of the number of sold vehicles is different from that in the first nine months, the most accentuated growth having been registered in personal cars.
The Dacia Sandero model, launched in June, sold 4,200 units in September, in the European markets, the quoted release also reveals.
Thus, the Romanian manufacturer sold 20,447 cars in September, up 55.1%, while the number of commercial vehicles sold increased by 29.7% to 1,262 units.
Meanwhile, Dacia sales advanced by 89.8% in Europe, in September, Renault mentions.
The Renault Group marketed 1,882,172 cars in the first nine months, up 2% as compared to 1,845,931 during the period January-September 2007.
