Toyota Honda Nissan Japan’s top automakers report July production jump

Japan’s top three automakers said global production in July rose to records for that month, highlighting solid growth riding on their reputation for fuel-efficient models amid soaring gasoline prices.

Toyota Motor Corp. - close to passing up General Motors Corp. to become the world’s biggest automaker - said Wednesday that worldwide output rose 10.2 per cent in July from a year ago to 812,147 vehicles.

Honda Motor Co., Japan’s second-biggest automaker, reported July production jumped 17.7 per cent to 342,152 vehicles. Demand for its Fit subcompact, the best-selling car in Japan for the ninth month in a row, has benefited the company.

Nissan Motor Co. also racked up record production for July at 315,975 vehicles, up 26.8 per cent on year, on strong sales of its Maxima and Altima sedans in the U.S. and the Teana and other models in China.

The robust growth for the Japanese comes at a time when soaring gas prices have hurt the world’s auto industry.

Guangzhou Honda Accord were sale 17,191 units in july 2008

Of the top 15 Chinese makers of passenger vehicles by sales in July, only Guangzhou Honda sold more vehicles over June, and the nearly 57.1% growth rate shows the company is gathering strong sales momentum. Industry experts said that this extraordinary achievement is mostly attributed to the good sales of the 8th-generation Accord sedan and the all-new Fit sedan.

2008 Honda Jazz Full modelchange was unveiled for European

Honda will follow-up one of the most successful models in supermini history when its all-new Jazz goes on sale this Autumn. At a time of rising fuel prices and financial instability, a range of low emission, high economy petrol engines makes the new model an attractive option for the increasing number of motorists looking to downsize.

By enhancing its strongest qualities, Honda engineers have taken the innovative design and versatility of the current Jazz to the next stage. Greater flexibility, more interior space and lively, but economical engines raise the bar even further in a class that’s struggled to match the Honda Jazz for customer satisfaction and reliability.

The hugely-popular Jazz was always going to be a hard act to follow – simply because of the resounding success of the current car. As well as attracting consistently strong demand from customers in every year since its 2002 launch, the Honda Jazz europe 2008 has also won over 30 industry awards, making it one of the most celebrated models ever.

The sequel builds on this success, with a more stylish, contemporary exterior design to appeal to a broader audience. A slightly larger body style brings better visibility and means Jazz is even more spacious.

Honda OSM lightweight and low emission sport car concept

Honda’s low-emission sportscar study model has been revealed at the British International Motor Show, at ExCeL, London.

The lightweight roadster design study displays one of Honda’s core engineering principles – to design stylish and exciting cars that are also environmentally responsible.

Named the OSM (for Open Study Model), the two-seater joins the confirmed-for-production CR-Z sports hybrid and FCX Clarity hydrogen fuel cell car on the Honda stand at the show.

“We’re trying to show that low emission cars can be attractive,” says Andreas Sittel, Project Leader for OSM. “There is no reason why a car that’s more environmentally friendly can’t look great too – and be sporty and fun to drive.”
