AFTER THE successful launch of Toyota Corolla Altis in the country, the car manufacturer is geared up to roll-out its diesel version in the Indian car market. The reason for introducing the diesel version is that Toyota is aiming to cater to buyer’s needs in all ways.

The car manufacturer senses that diesel luxury saloons are gaining popularity in the Indian car market. However, for the diesel version of Altis, Toyota is planning the small 1.4 turbo diesel engine , that is currently motorised in the Yaris hatchback, delivering 90-100 bhp. Diesel cars offer improved power, performance, and fuel-efficiency.

Toyota’s engineers are working on various modifications to offer the European Corolla’s design to the Indian Altis. This is definitely going to be a challenging race for the car manufacturer.

However, there is no official confirmation pertaining to the launch of the diesel Toyota Corolla Altis. It is also proclaimed that the car will be available in Indian showrooms by mid-2009.
